Home Page: http://www.thlib.org/

As manager of the Tibetan and Himalayan Library, I supervise many of its initiatives, including the Tibetan Canonical Collections and the Journal of the International Association of Tibetan Studies. I also teach Literary Tibetan at the University of Virginia and have twice taught the intensive Tibetan language program in UVa’s Summer Language Institute. My research interests have focused on the early history and development of tantric Buddhism in India and Tibet. I am also interested in the practice of meditation, and in particular, the psychological and neurological understanding and effects of meditation.

Current Focus

In the Tibetan & Himalayan Library I facilitate and oversee the creation, collection, and dissemination of resources on Tibetan & Himalayan regions. I am also engaged in researching and exploring Tibetan and Buddhist tantric systems. I am currently serving as the interpreter for a Tibetan lama’s weekly talks on Buddhism

Future Goals

I hope to engage more deeply in my own research and exploration of Buddhism at both the intellectual and experiential level. I would like to revise my dissertation and publish it, and would also like to publish the translations of Tibetan texts I’ve been working on for the past 20 or so years.
