Current Focus

I’m now assessing the effectiveness of teaching materials generated by a workshop held in November 2007 in conjunction with a group teachers working in different disciplines at UVA and other institutions. We’re also exploring ways in which visual material enhances reading comprehension.

Future Goals

Create new materials to clarify the astronomical allusions in the Comedy.

History

A prototype of the World of Dante was created in 1996-97 which focused on the Inferno.

From 2006-2009 we enhanced and expanded The World of Dante to include Purgatory and Paradise along with a wide range of contextual materials.

Opportunities

Graduate and undergraduate assistantships available from 2008-11.
